Wippien is a open source P2P zero-configuration VPN client.
It is capable of establishing direct links between computers that are behind NAT firewalls without requiring reconfiguration (in most cases); in other words, it establishes a connection over the Internet that very closely emulates the connection that would exist if the computers were connected over a local area network. It is quite similar to Hamachi but it uses the Jabber/XMPP to keep the users that are linked to one account. Unlike Hamachi, it requires users to link one another to simulate scenarios in Hamachi but in Hamachi, a user only needs to join a network to allow all other users to access their computer.
[edit] Alternatives
- Hamachi, a closed-source program, which offers approximately the same functions.
